Spouse Visa in Thailand

The Thai embassy or consulate in your home country can help you apply for a Spouse Visa (Non-Immigrant "O" Visa) if you are a foreigner married to a Thai national and want to live there with your spouse.

The following are the general specifications for a Thai spouse visa:

1. A passport that is still valid for at least six months
2. A finished visa application
3. A single current passport-sized photo
4. Marriage license issued by the government or embassy of the nation where you wed, verified in Thai by Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs
5. Financial proof, such as a bank statement or income tax return

6. A police clearance certificate from your country of origin or current residence, if necessary.

The Thai embassy or consulate may decide to request additional documentation or subject you to an interview in addition to these requirements.

You must apply for a one-year extension of stay at a nearby Thai immigration office before your original 90-day stay expires once you have a spouse visa. You will have to show evidence of your marriage, your ability to support yourself, and a good justification for remaining in Thailand.

To make sure you meet all requirements for a spouse visa and for help with the application procedure, it is advised that you speak with a Thai immigration lawyer or specialist.
